SKILLS
1
PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Over the course of the first month of my internship, I was given a long-term development project to manage. My job was to coordinate with our project volunteers and ground partner (active organization in the region where the disaster occurred) to formulate a project to rebuild the community, particularly providing a clean water source and educating the populace to maintain this system. I developed skills in budgeting, as I had to redo the budget due to the underestimation of costs of supplies. I also developed communication skills while coordinating with different types of people and organizations across cultures.
2
RESEARCH SKILLS
During my internship, I took charge of initiating, planning and executing a research project to analyze Singapore’s donor landscape. I synthesized my research findings into a comprehensive trend analysis report of donor behavior and preferences to inform Mercy Relief’s strategies and help us better serve our beneficiaries. I honed my ability to synthesize complex data into actionable recommendations.
3
FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
In my rotation to the corporate department, I was responsible for managing and organizing Mercy Relief's finances. My attention to detail and proficiency in financial software allowed me to excel in accurately and swiftly documenting the organization’s financial transactions in compliance with the financial policies. I further demonstrated my understanding of financial principles in the course of preparing the organization’s monthly internal financial report where I provided valuable insights and observations that contributed to more efficient financial observations.
